Latest news from Lt. Pacifico and EROC

Posted by Larissa · August 23, 2026

From Malcolm Yeatts, our EROC representative:
Ed Miller and I met with Lt. Jane Pacifico this afternoon. Here are some updates on APD activities:

APD has continued to concentrate on the crime at the intersection of Oltorf and Burton. The AT&T utility cabinets have been removed, denying cover for drug deals. Austin Electric has installed a new light pole at the intersection, which provides more light at night. APD has initiated a Zero-tolerance program for the intersection. APD officers now make arrests for Class C misdemeanors for people that hang around this intersection at night. These offences are generally dismissed by the Travis County DA, but these arrests often lead to other more serious offences being filed.

Capitol Metro Police will be present at the bus stops at Burton/Oltorf and Parker/Oltorf during morning and afternoon student commutes to and from Travis Early College High School.

Lt. Pacifico would appreciate any feedback from students and parents from Travis and Linder Schools on safety:

15 apartment complexes along Burton, Royal Crest, and Oltorf have recently joined the Crime Free Multi-Housing Program. This program helps residents and property managers reduce crime around their apartment complexes:

Lt. Pacifico now has a regularly scheduled meeting with city staff to report on crime along East Oltorf.

The previous Commander of Henry Sector, Courtney Daniels, has retired. The acting Commander is now Cmdr. David Shand.
